Who Wants to Put Ben & Jerry's Schweddy Balls in Their Mouth?
Yes, we opened with a balls joke, but, to be fair, Saturday Night Live started it. Now the skit in question is being paid tribute with Ben & Jerry's latest special edition flavor, Schweddy Balls. The rumor first surfaced earlier this summer, and TIME confirms the delicious news today. You know the skit: hapless NPR food show hosts played by Molly Shannon and Ana Gasteyer, talk to guest Pete Schweddy (Alec Baldwin), a baker who likes to bring out his balls--cheese balls, rum balls, etc.--for the holidays. No one can resist his Schweddy Balls!
The new Ben & Jerry's flavor is vanilla ice cream with a hint of rum and fudge-covered rum and malt balls. Both Gasteyer and Baldwin have released statements expressing approval of the new ice cream.
Ben & Jerry's initially addressed the Schweddy Balls flavor rumors by saying they would not confirm or deny, and that they "like all of [their] new flavors to have an element of surprise." We trust you to find your own jokes from here on out. The SNL skit below will most assuredly help.
