Crossroads, the vegan restaurant that can turn a radish into a gourmet dish, recently added a decadent seafood tower to their menu. Chefs Tal Ronnen and Scot Jones introduced their "plant-based interpretation of the classic fruits de mer" in August, and it will only be on the menu for about another week or two, we confirmed this morning.

The dish's temporary nature is due to the main ingredient: the Lobster Mushroom. “Lobster Mushrooms are true treasures of the earth,” says Ronnen. “The naturally seafood-like flavor of Lobster Mushrooms inspired the tower and it all developed from there.” Ronnen says they expect to have the Lobster Mushrooms for another week or two, so the Crossroads Seafood Tower is still on the dinner menu until they run out.

The dish costs $85, but it serves 4—here's what's in their vegan take of the classic seafood menu item, which has been selling out fast every night it's been offered.

  • Fresh Hearts of Palm Calamari
  • Casino-style Shitake Mushrooms
  • Artichoke Oyster Mushrooms Rockefeller
  • Tempura-battered Lobster Mushrooms
  • Hearts of Palm Salad (Louie style)
  • Smoked Carrot Lox (kelp caviar)
  • Shitake Oyster Style Shooter (choice of vodka or tequila)

This is all "delicately placed on a layer of rock salt and ice, with accoutrements of mignonette, house cocktail, and tartar sauces," and served alongside Parker House Rolls. And a glass of rosé, if you're doing it right.

It is only available at Thursday, Friday and Saturday night dinners, and you'll want to get there early if you want this on your table, because they only do a limited run every night.
