Another week and another round of votes for the Tournament of Cheeseburgers, our quest to crown the most popular cheeseburger in SoCal.

It was another barnburner: we received more than 3,000 votes (which cumulatively has put us at over 7,000 so far!)

We've tallied the numbers, and can now reveal the Savory 16 — the current top contenders. (See below for the full list).

Next steps

We're also opening voting for the next round. Those at the top of the leaderboard — the Tasty 8 — will be announced next Friday, June 7.

More Food Friday

From there, your votes will whittle down the list once more to the Flavorful 4, and then to the ultimate champ who will be revealed at our burger-tastic family-friendly event on Sunday, July 7, at Smorgasburg LA.

So get voting — and get your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to vote, too. Remember, each person can only vote once.

The Savory 16

It's another banger of a list, drilling down on the who's who of the SoCal cheeseburger scene (which, we're happy to say, is still wide-ranging in both scope and geography. Even In-N-out is still showing up).

Inevitably, some top names didn't make the cut. If your favorite has dropped off the list, we salute and feel your pain. But if it's still there (or even if it isn't), check out who's still in the running, and make sure your voice is heard!

(Remember: we list the burgers in alphabetical order to keep things fair. Also note that the voting page randomly selects the order every time it loads, so a different eatery is always at the top of the list.)

One year ago, Congress voted to defund public media, eliminating a critical $1.7 million from our budget every year going forward. But they couldn’t silence us, and we’re not going anywhere. LAist is now 100% community funded and that means we’re taking our future into our own hands and turning to you to keep local reporting strong.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our nonprofit newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our communities. We are free to follow facts wherever they lead and to hold power to account without fear or favor. Our only loyalty is to our readers and listeners and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen Southern California’s communities.
