Where to Get Your Valentine's Day Treats in L.A.

Valentine's Day is all about pouring on the sugar, mostly for couples celebrating their love, but also for the singletons who indulge their solo sweet tooths. While we've already helped you find some locally-sourced chocolates for February 14, if you were looking to pick up some other sweet treats and baked goods for you or your loved ones this Valentine's Day, here are a few options for you.
GEORGETOWN CUPCAKE
Ohhhh, yes: Cupcakes are still a thing. One of the newest cupcake spots to hit L.A. is DC-import Georgetown Cupcake, who have put together a special Valentine's Day Dozen. V-Day flavors include Red Velvet, Strawberry, Strawberry Lava Fudge, and Limited Edition Strawberry Champagne cupcakes. If your sweetie is vegan or gluten free, Georgetown carries those cupcakes, too. Valentine's Day is extra sweet for this cupcake shop seen in the TLC series, since this year it marks their 5th anniversary. The first 100 customers in on Thursday will get a free "Sweetheart Chocolate Ganache" cupcake.
Georgetown Cupcake is located at 143 S Robertson Boulevard, Mid-City West 90048 (310) 893-2866
SHORT CAKE
One of our favorite L.A. bakeries will have a few special Valentine's Day treats, like TCHO heart-shaped brownie bites, Linzer hearts with SQIRL raspberry lavender preserves, and a chocolate heart cake with chocolate mousse and raspberry lavender preserves with slivered almonds. Some quantities are limited, so put a call in ahead if you want to make sure your sweetheart gets the treats you have in mind for them. Of course, you can't go wrong with a selection of regular Short Cake pastries and goodies, either!
Short Cake is located inside the Original Farmers' Market (323) 761-7976

BOUCHON BAKERY
It's no secret we are devotees of Beverly Hills' Bouchon Bakery. Tucked inside the foyer leading up to the beloved Thomas Keller eatery Bouchon, the small but special bakery will have special treats for Valentine's Day, like heart-shaped treats to share your heart with someone. Bouchon Bakery is located at 235 N Canon Drive, Beverly Hills, 90210 (310) 271-9910
M CAFÉ
Macrobiotic eatery M Café has created a special menu of decadent sweet treats to indulge in this Valentine’s Day. If the person who rules your heart has dietary rules and avoids refined sugar, dairy, or eggs, you may want to stop in here between now and February 15 to pick up treats like Heart-shaped Strawberry Shortcake, Chocolate Petit Fours, Linzer Heart Cookies, Valentine’s Day Strawberry Cupcakes, Heart-shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies, and Strawberry Kanten.
M Café is located at 7119 Melrose Avenue, Mid-City 90046 (323) 525-0588 and at 9433 Brighton Way, Beverly Hills, 90210 (310) 858-8459
SUSINA BAKERY
Another one of L.A.'s best bakeries is Susina, who have a selection of special heart-shaped cakes available for order (call ahead) as well as V-Day treats like Shortbread Heart Linzer Cookies with Raspberry Jam, Shortbread Heart Cookies Dipped in Chocolate, more heart shaped cookies, and Valentine's Day cupcakes on their special menu.
Susina Bakery is located at 7122 Beverly Boulevard, Mid-City, 90036 (323) 934-7900
LA MONARCA BAKERY
La Monarca Bakery recently expanded to add a fourth location and has set up shop in South Pasadena. They have plenty of goodies ideal for putting together a sweet gift basket filled with treats like pink Strawberry Shortcake, Dulce de Leche and chocolate-dipped strawberries, and their regular selection of acclaimed baked goods.
La Monarca has four L.A.-area locations: Huntington Park, East L.A., Santa Monica and South Pasadena.

MAGNOLIA BAKERY
Magnolia Bakery is indeed a great place for cupcakes, so for Valentine's Day they've got their Sweet Sayings Cupcakes, (devil's food cupcake topped with chocolate ganache and a sweet saying inscribed on top). But they have oh-so-much more that's tempting, like their Red Velvet Cake, Valentine's Day Cookies (shortbread cookies rolled in pink and white sanding sugar or dipped in chocolate and decorated in festive non-pareils), and Chocolate Whoopie Cookies (pale pink vanilla buttercream sandwiched between two rich chocolate wafer cookies). Or you can get six classic vanilla and chocolate cupcakes that spell out L-O-V-E, or Flourless Chocolate Cupcakes.
Magnolia Bakery is located at 8389 W 3rd Street, Mid-City West 90048 (323) 951-0636
As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
