This story is free to read because readers choose to support LAist. If you find value in independent local reporting, make a donation to power our newsroom today.

Postmates, the extremely popular on-demand platform "that can deliver anything from anywhere," allowing you to pay other people to bring you food while slowly shutting yourself off from the world, is offering free delivery across the city of Los Angeles through Friday.

Unlike the "sharing" economy, this does not appear to be a scam. It is, however, a promotion*, and you can capitalize on it by using the code "LABAE" (because the company's current campaign is #BetterThanYourBoyfriend, according to a Postmates rep).

That "LABAE" code should be good for free delivery from any Postmates merchant in Los Angeles, from now through Friday, September 15 at 11:59 p.m. According to a Postmates rep, "one account CAN use the same code unlimited times through Friday!"

To be clear, that's not free food, just free delivery. And if you do take Postmates up on their free delivery offer, please for the love of all that is holy, still tip your Postmate. Tip them generously, because you just got free delivery. Enjoy!

*Postmates is publicizing the expansion of their L.A. territory to include Stevenson Ranch, Valencia, Porter Ranch, Canoga Park, West Hills, Simi Valley, Chatsworth, Granada Hills, and Sylmar, and also hyping their local $9.99 a month unlimited delivery plan.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
