The 2013 Los Angeles County Fair is in full swing, and the deep fryers are sizzling even more than the attendees under sweltering skies.

Since the County Fair food mantra is pretty much "You name it, we deep fry it," it's no surprise to find an ever-expanding list of greasy gastronomical delights to contribute to your expanding waistline. Seriously, folks, deep fried bacon-wrapped pickles are a reality, as is deep fried cookie dough. This year the fair added two fried items on a stick: Mac and cheese and S'mores. Lest we forget, since at the fair regular bread won't suffice, we found not only burgers but Sloppy Joe's piled on donuts-for-buns.

Dig in to this gut busting photo set. If you want to try these treats for yourself, the L.A. County Fair runs through September 29.

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
