A particularly delectable way to soak up the booze after a rowdy night out, the Ground Beef and Pickle Taco at Silver Lake's Malo (and now DTLA sib Mas Malo) is one of the restaurant's calling card dishes. Chef Robert Luna dishes with KCET's The Public Kitchen about the origins of this childhood favorite food, and explains how his beloved burger morphed into a beloved taco thanks to a tantrum and his mom's quick thinking.
