KindKreme* Vegan Ice Cream: Mind-blowing Good, Raw & Organic

With our free press under threat and federal funding for public media gone, your support matters more than ever. Help keep the LAist newsroom strong, become a monthly member or increase your support today.

We've been looking forward to the opening day of KindKreme in the Cahuenga Pass for almost an entire year now, and the wait is finally over. The first vegan ice cream parlor in Los Angeles is in their soft opening phase, and Saturday, May 15th they'll celebrate the sweet occasion with their grand opening.

Blogger Quarrygirl has already been by to take a taste of their dairy-free soft serve, and the verdict is pretty unparalleled:

with just one bite, this stuff changed everything i know about vegan soft serve. it was thick and flavorful, dense yet fluffy, oh man….fucking perfect. the best soft serve i’ve ever had, hands down. i’d like to install one of these machines in my house and pump its crazy-good ice cream down my throat on a daily basis. i don’t know how nicecream manages to make it all vegan, raw, and organic…but it’s totally mind-blowing.

Wowza! Some of the flavors aren't completely vegan, since they use "cruelty-free" honey as a sweetener, and KindKreme explains why they've made that choice. It's not just straight up soft serve, though; KindKreme's menu includes juices, shakes, ice cream sandwiches, banana splits, and more, along with carry-out items like popsicles and pints of ice cream to-go. You can keep up with KindKreme on Twitter and Facebook.*Shortly after opening NiceCream changed their name to KindKreme.
