Where To Grab Last-Minute Meats For Your 4th Of July BBQ
Red, white, and blue bunting? Check. Sparklers and party-poppers? Check. Corn on the cob? Check. Six-packs of beer? Check.
Yes, it's the day before the Fourth of July. You've planned your BBQ down to every detail, but forgot the one main thing: meat.
"We get a lot of panicked customers [who] come in the day before," a butcher at the Rabbi's Daughter in Westwood told LAist. "They buy a couple pounds of ground beef and sometimes BBQ sauce, and they leave happier."
But no need to be panicked, we've got your back.
Los Angeles is full of high-quality butchers selling everything you need to make your grill-and-chill party a success. (Though, with the L.A. area's highs hovering in the mid-to-upper 80s, maybe "chill" is not the right word).
"People are buying a lot of 80/20 beef grind this time of year," a butcher with Belcampo in Santa Monica told LAist. "It's not our busiest time of year—that's Thanksgiving and Christmas—but we're definitely selling a lot of New York Strip steaks, sausages, rubs and marinades."
Here's a list of some specialty meat purveyors around Los Angeles that are open on both the 3rd and 4th (please don't wait until the day-of).
