Big news for Westside bobos in paradise! L.A.'s second 365 by Whole Foods—the grocery chain's smaller, slightly more affordable, millennial-friendly concept store—is officially opening in Santa Monica on August 9.

For the past year, Angelenos have had to live like animals with access to only a single 365 market (the much-hailed and ever-crowded Silver Lake location, which opened in May 2016), but now all that will change. We will doubtlessly achieve our collective higher purposes at the 26,668-square-foot store, which will feature a Groundwork coffee bar and an Asian Box street food venue.

“We’re excited to bring the 365 experience to Santa Monica,” Jeff Turnas, president of Whole Foods Market 365/sorta hot fortysomething Silver Lake skater dad who doesn't actually live in Silver Lake, said in a statement. “This new location gives us an opportunity to bring the Santa Monica community the best of Whole Foods Market 365 with a streamlined shopping experience focused on quality and value, plus two amazing Friends partnerships.”

Why is Friends capitalized? Are Asian Box and Groundwork those capital-"F" friends, or are there even more Friends coming? Whole Foods spokesperson Janette Rizk clarified via email that the aforementioned twosome were, in fact, the Friends being referenced by Turnas, and that both additions are part of the "Friends of 365" program. Each store apparently has its own Friends! (And not that anyone is counting, but the Silver Lake 365 has three Friends.) What a world.

We also reached out to inquire about whether the Santa Monica store will have any inside-the-market Street Art akin to the legendary Silver Kale mural, but are still waiting to hear back. We will, of course, update the post accordingly.

In other news, the Santa Monica Whole Foods 365 oasis is but one of three upcoming 365 dreamscapes headed to the Los Angeles area, with stores to follow in North Hollywood and Long Beach.

Whole Foods Market 365 in Santa Monica will be located at 2121 Cloverfield Boulevard at Pico in Santa Monica.
