Kogi BBQ at Santa Monica College... With No Line
If you're willing to take a late lunch or if you loaf around all day anyways, Kogi BBQ is now serving the Santa Monica area at 3 PM until dinnertime. For once, the line was almost nonexistent at times and topped off at around 10 people max (if you're not familiar with the Kogi BBQ phenomenon, lines can easily be an hour plus wait). This is not a permanent location yet, but Kogi BBQ is making a push to local colleges and checking out new spots, they told us. There are four restrooms nearby, a parking lot for five dollars, and meter parking available on Pearl. Your best bet would be to take public transportation, the 7 and 8 lines can drop you off on both sides of SMC. There are also lots of benches and picnic tables around, a library to lounge in (before the truck arrives) and a nice quad to stroll through.
