Intelligentsia Brewing Soon in Silverlake
We are absolutely stoked beyond exuberance to report that the Chicago-based Intelligentsia Coffee is slated to initiate what EaterLA is calling their "West Coast domination" at an outpost in the Sunset Junction part of Silverlake in April. Why are we so damned excited? Because Intelligentsia's coffee rocks our face off, that's why. We got turned on to their beans last year on a jaunt to Chicago, and have indugled with ordering their wares online for home consumption; just a week or so ago we pulled the packing tape off just such a fragrant delivery and have been brewing their House Blend in our humble Mr. Coffee since then. The scoop on Intelligentsia: They roast all their own beans daily in vintage German roasters, and they take their coffee seriously. It's no so much about the bells and whistles of syrups and whipped creams and themed seasonal desserts-in-a-cup, but more about coffee at an artisanal level. We agree that Silverlake is the place for them; we just hope what we'll save in shipping fees will be worth the forseeable parking drama.
