Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

The Gastrobus shall rove no more, but don't worry, it's not going away. Owners Antonio and Lana Medina are trading in their bright yellow food truck for a permanent spot on Hillhurst in Los Feliz called Gastronomico, in the former Sis Mediterranean Food space.

The new venture's website may leave you hungry for details, but Gastronomico were teasing preview menu items ahead of their Breadbar pop-up for a couple of weeks on their restaurant's Twitter account, which, if you've sampled their tasty market-fresh fare off the Gastrobus, will have you just plain hungry:

BREAD & HEIRLOOM TOMATO SALAD w goat cheese, majoram & lemon, CRAB & CORN BEIGNETS w tomato, pickled onions & cilantro
RIB-EYE STEAK w grilled onion, bordelaise & thyme, POT OF LENTILS w summer squash, cilantro & chives
SEARED TUNA & CRISPY CALAMARI w charred eggplant, chilies, mint & basil, ALSATIAN PIZZA sweet onions, lardons & thyme
PEACH&WAFFLE w spiced rum ice cream & caramel. ROCKY ROADS almond cake, fat-free dark chocolate sorbet & homemade marshmallow

On Monday, Gastronomico Tweeted: "Keep ur eyes open, we might b open before the end of this month..."

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
