Veg out! If you are vegetarian, or merely veggie-curious, October could be your month. It's "Vegetarian Awareness Month," and to get things started, October 1 has been dubbed "World Vegetarian Day." One thing this means: Free food!

The Counter is giving away a free mini veggie burger to all diners with any burger purchase at all their U.S. locations. (Well, not the Miami airport one, but chances are that doesn't affect you here in L.A.) The Counter has previously ranked as one of our favorite spots where vegetarians and meat eaters can eat happily together.

The mini veggie burger is served with provolone, red pepper and Dijon balsamic dressing. The Counter makes their own hand-formed veggie patty out of brown rice, spinach, panko bread crumbs, mushrooms, onions, corn, black beans, zucchini, red bell peppers and carrots. Bonus: The patty is vegan, and The Counter says all non-animal ingredients are cooked and stored separately.
