Beloved Paso Robles-based brewers Firestone Walker plans to open their much-anticipated taproom on the border of Venice and Marina Del Rey by early April. The craft brewery, known for their hoppy ales and coveted oak barrel-fermented brews, has two locations in Santa Barbara county, but this will be the first time L.A. beer lovers can pay them a visit without making the pilgrimage up the 101. Rather than a mere satellite outpost, the new location will feature a small-scale brewhouse, a large taproom and dining room and a "discovery center" that will offer homebrewing seminars, talks from brewers and other special events.

Though the opening date has been pushed back a bit, the company tells LAist that they're aiming to open in Venice soon.

"Our hope is that we can open in April. This has been a long road, somewhat frustrating, but when we open the doors we want to be happy and have it reflect the standards of our brewery," David Walker—who founded the brewery in 1996 with his brother-in-law Adam Firestone—tells LAist. "So it's a lot like our beers: when they're ready to drink, they're ready to drink."

Rather than any demolition-heavy construction some might expect from a new location, Firestone Walker actually improved existing buildings without increasing the size, density or footprint. They'll have plenty of on-site parking available, but will also be offering extensive accommodation for bicycles. So, rest assured, you'll easily be able to roll up on your beach cruiser for a growler fill and a pint.
