Eye Nosh: 'Drop a forkful in some syrup and then you're set'

Behold the Monte Cristo from Echo Park's The Park, a pork-and-sweet fried sandwich that might have the power to rethink that plan of yours to follow a healthy eating plan before bathing suit season.
As described by the LAist Featured Photos contributor who shared this decadent meal with us via Flickr, the Monte Cristo is: "Super big and super delicious, with an interesting and tasty touch of mustard. Drop a forkful in some syrup and then you're set."
A thing of beauty? A heart attack waiting to happen? Both? Up to you.
