If Budweiser and MGD are your two favorite beers in the world, then you might as well stop reading this post now.But if you like beer that's dark as black coffee or can appreciate the nuances between an ale and a lager, then keep reading.

The Los Angeles Craft and Artisanal Beer Appreciation League is holding the first Craft Beer Fest LA today from 2-9 pm. The League’s formula is simple: beer + food = heaven. Fifteen California breweries (including Craftsman -- one of LAist’s favorites) will be pouring at least two handcrafted beers each.

Not only that, but there will be top-notch food for noshing, including vegan snacks from Pure Luck, artisan cheese pairings, beer-themed treats like bar nuts, ale cupcakes and stout ice cream from, drumroll, please: Scoops.

At $30, tickets may seem a little steep, but that covers overs beer, food, brewery roundtables and live music. Proceeds from the day’s event will benefit 826LA, Dave Eggers’ nonprofit writing and literacy center for kids.

LA CABAL closed online presale after selling 500 tickets, but more will be available at the door (cash only). We suggest getting there early to ensure time for proper sipping and sampling.
