Margarita Dinner @ Border Grill Santa Monica: Tequila Don Julio and Farmers Market-Inspired Menu
Top Chef Masters Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger have teamed up with Don Julio’s certified tequila Catador Kevin Vanegas for a Margarita Dinner next week at Border Grill Santa Monica. The meal will feature the vibrant flavors of a farmers market-inspired menu created by Executive Chef Alex Moreno. Diners will sip and savor pairings like Mexican 75 (Tequila Don Julio Blanco, persimmon orange puree, cava) with Lobster Ceviche with Seville Orange, grilled persimmon, fresh ginger, crispy plantain. Chick-fil-A Opening Today in Torrance
For enthusiasts of the Southern-based fast food chain, the South Bay is getting its own Chick-fil-A, which happens to be the first stand-alone restaurant they've opened, say their press folks. Expect a zoo of first-comers there today in Torrance.
Zpizza Adds Fan-Created Pie to the Menu This Month
In honor of National Pizza Week (January 9-15) Zpizza has added the fan-created Pepperoni Caprese Pizza to its menu through the end of January. The ingredients all came from Facebook, and a contest they ran in October asking FB fans to build their dream pepperoni pizza. The winning "Pepperoni Caprese" recipe is made with 100 percent certified organic wheat flour dough, takes a twist on the Italian antipasto dish "Insalata Caprese" of sliced fresh mozzarella, roma tomatoes and basil, seasoned with olive oil, salt and pepper, with the addition of roasted red peppers and Zpizza's new, all-natural pepperoni, known as Pure Pepperoni. The pizza can also be made with gluten-free or wheat crust.

Clippers Versus Lakers Cocktails @The Mixing Room
The Mixing Room Cocktail Lounge at he JW Marriott at L.A. LIVE, will offer a Los Angeles Clippers vs. Los Angeles Lakers cocktail showdown for the duration of the NBA season. Guests are invited to support their favorite team with the festive cocktails in the cocktail lounge. At the end of the 2012 NBA season, The Mixing Room will tally the number of cocktails ordered for each team, and the winning team’s cocktail will earn a permanent spot on The Mixing Room’s menu until the 2013 NBA season begins. The Clippers Martini is Grey Goose vodka with triple sec, lime juice, and raspberry syrup, garnished with blueberries on a bamboo stick; the Lakers Martini is Maker’s Mark bourbon, Cointreau, simple syrup and lemon juice, garnished with an orange twist. Post & Beam, a new culinary concept from owner Brad Johnson (Georgia, BLT Steak), Executive Chef Govind Armstrong (Table 8, 8 oz. Burger Bar), and Director of Operations David Borrego (The Raymond, Wolfgang Puck, and Morton’s), has opened! The restaurant aims to invigorate the local dining scene. They're sourcing ingredients from places like their on-site garden and the South Central Farmers Cooperative (win, win) for dishes like Sticky Little Ribs with roasted potato and braised fennel salad and local vegetable small plates. Plus:A hand-picked selection of wine and craft beers such as Arrogant Bastard, Eagle Rock Manifesto “Wit -Bier,” and Eel River.
Golden Road Brewing Launches Pub
L.A.’s largest craft brewery has extended their hours of operation for their in-house pub. The space in Atwater Village will be open to the public from 11 AM to 11 PM daily and feature growler fills, a to-go deli case, and an impressive array of vegan and non vegan small bites, salads, sandwiches and entrées. Plus, a weekly back patio BBQ’s on Saturday and Sunday with rotating burger and beer specials. (And, my goodness, they brew great beers!)
Petrossian Has All-Foie Gras dineLA Menu
For dine LA's Restaurant Week and the upcoming California ban on Foie Gras, Petrossian West Hollywood's Executive Chef Giselle Wellman has developed a "farewell" menu for the delicacy. The menu is $44 (30g of signature Caviar an additional $59). Dishes include Foie Gras Ravioli; Prime Flatiron Steak with Foie Gras, Leeks, Mushroom Duxelles, Truffle, Beef Jus; and Foie Gras Ice Cream with Raspberry Jam, Brioche, Honey, Sea Salt.
More Veggie & Vegan Options, New Brunch Drinks, New Hours @STREET
Susan Feniger's STREET is greeting 2012 with a fresh selection of veggie and vegan options (more now than ever!) and some other changes, like new hours and new brunch drinks. STREET opens at 5pm Monday - Thursday and noon on Friday. By popular demand, Brunch will now be served on Saturday and Sunday starting at 11am.
