Burger King Can't Give Away their New Burgers?

For the past week or so Burger King has been stickering their bags with a small announcement that burger shots would be free yesterday between11am-2pm
The promo has been reported across the country from Honolulu to Manhattan. Just after 2pm Santa Monica's lone Burger King on Pico showed no signs of a mob scene- no post Woodstock like trash strewn about the lot. Just business as usual.
It seems that one free shot wasn't enough to cause lines to snake around the parking lot the way they did when Phillipes French Dip and Canter's celebrated their anniversaries by rolling back the tariff on their sandwiches to opening day prices. Nothing like when Mortons Steakhouses across the US offered their sliders for free Sunday December 21st at 6pm, and the Orange county unit was 'sold out' by 6:30.
BK is joining the slider craze with their fast food version. They are available either 2 pickle-sized patties on dinner roll size buns for $1.49 or 6 for 4.39. They're more like mini BK burgers (unwhoppers?) than actual sliders, which 'slide' because they're typically steam fried with lots of slimy onions. At least according to A Hamburger Today, and they should know.
The BK shots aren't bad for a fast food entry, but for 5 bucks at happy hour you could get three 1/6th lb sliders at Morton's instead.
