New York's Outrageous Black Tap Milkshakes Will Pop Up In L.A. This Saturday

We need to hear from you.
Today during our spring member drive, put a dollar value on the trustworthy reporting you rely on all year long. The local news you read here every day is crafted for you, but right now, we need your help to keep it going. In these uncertain times, your support is even more important. We can't hold those in power accountable and uplift voices from the community without your partnership. Thank you.

New York's gratuitous Black Tap milkshakes are coming to a pop-up in Santa Monica, and they'll be just as incredible as anyone familiar with the East Coast burger joint would expect. Black Tap has made a name for itself by offering milkshakes that look more like modernist architectural wonders than anything a rational person would eat. On Saturday, August 13, IT'SUGAR in Santa Monica will be offering the IT'SUGAR XL Gummy Shake by Black Tap for free from 1 to 4 p.m. This shake has a jaw breaker rim, a gigantic gummy bear, a rainbow marshmallow pop, rainbow glitter, and marshmallow chunks in addition to the actual shake.

The shakes will be whipped up by Black Tap owner Joe Isidori, and if you have always wanted actress Tammin Sursok (Pretty Little Liars) to serve you dessert for some reason, she will be handing off the first ten shakes.

Our New York counterparts at Gothamist once attempted Black Tap's Cookie Milkshake, which was apparently " a ludicrous combination of vanilla ice cream, cookie crumbs and chocolate syrup topped with a chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich, whole chocolate chip cookies, a frosting and cookie crumb rim and a fistful of whipped cream (topped with more chocolate sauce, naturally)."

Nutritionist Tara Mardigan told Gothamist that those looking to try to take on something like this should "eat normally that day, try to stick to an exercise plan and, if you can, split it and share the wealth."
