On October 15th, LCD Soundsystem will join Hot Chip and Sleigh Bells at the Hollywood Bowl for one kickin' concert. The concert is in support of LCD's latest album, "This Is Happening," which since its May release has earned itself on high rankings on multiple lists.

To celebrate, LAist is giving away two pairs of tickets and you have two chances to win them ( also at this link you can buy tickets, which go on sale Friday). Both on this post and at this Facebook link (you must "like" LAist to activate the comment box), enter for a chance to win a pair of tickets by sharing this in the comments section on both or either of the sites: your ideal picnic basket to bring to the Hollywood Bowl. For example, maybe you go Trader Joe's style with their packaged foods, or you shop locally, as guided by LAist's Sam Kim in this post. Any way you put it, there are lots of ways to enjoy your food at the Hollywood Bowl, so tell us one of them. Full details of the contest are below.

  • Enter the contest by making a comment on this post and/or LAist's Facebook page link. Comments must fit the criteria, stated below
  • The criteria of the comment is that you share either, or both, your ideal picnic basket at the Hollywood Bowl.
  • Only one entry allowed per person per website (meaning you can enter once on LAist.com and once via this Facebook link).
  • The contest closes at 11:59:59 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2010.
  • One qualifying comment on LAist and one on the Facebook link will be chosen at random and the winners will be notified via the e-mail connected to their LAist.com login or via their Facebook account, respectively. Winners must confirm the receipt of the e-mail by 3:00:00 p.m., Tuesday, August June 10th, 2010 or the pair of tickets will go to another winner.
  • Tickets will be held at the will-call pick up at the theatre

Good luck and enjoy the show!

As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.

Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.

We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.

No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.

Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.

Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
