Video: This Coffee Table Doubles As an OG Nintendo Controller

Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

What's the only thing cooler than a coffee table shaped like an OG Nintendo controller? One that actually works, duh. The Boho Workbench in Venice designed a table that you can put your drinks on or use to play Nintendo (or both simultaneously!)

Thrillist gave the coffee table several totally scientific test runs changing the variables slightly each time, including a run to the dispensary (happy 4/20!):

Test 2: Super Mario Brothers 3, 1-player mode, after a trip to the dispensary
Normal Nintendo Controller: Wait, this normal Nintendo controller is a working Nintendo controller??
Functional Coffee Table Nintendo Controller: Wait, this coffee table is a working Nintendo controller??

Interested in getting your own? You can either fork over $3,500 to TheBohemianWorkbench's Etsy account or try your luck at winning a free giveaway. My only question: do you have to get a second coffee table to play with two players?

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
