While August 5, 2012 marked the 50th anniversary of the death of Marilyn Monroe, it was on August 8, 1962 that the 36-year-old actress was laid to rest at Westwood Village Memorial Park.

We've found some video footage, most of it silent, showing the somber gathering to say farewell to the iconic star whose legend--as the Elton John song about her suggests--will never fade.
