UNIQLO Pop-Up Shops Bring Cute Yet Cheap Fashion To SoCal This Summer
Heads up to the thrifty and fashion-conscious: You won’t have to wait until fall for UNIQLO to open in SoCal ’cause they’re opening three pop-up shops this summer. The Japan-based clothing retailer says it will open pop-ups in South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa July 3, Santa Monica Place July 22 and the Beverly Center July 31. They’ll remain open up until UNIQLO opens official shops here this fall at the South Coast Plaza, Glendale Galleria, Northridge Fashion Center and the Beverly Center.
Just so you don’t think UNIQLO is just another global, corporate clothing entity that makes cute, cheap clothes that break apart in the wash, they’re really trying to get us here in L.A. The company is encouraging people to use “L.A. slang” on Twitter and Instagram with the hashtag #UNIQLO for the chance to win up to $100 in online coupons—the more slang you use, the better chance you have at winning. But just what is L.A. slang, you might ask? They’ve given us a few examples: Animal burger. Iced tea latte. Or just things you read about on LAist.
UNIQLO already has 21 shops open in the United States, in San Francisco, New York, Philadelphia, Boston, New Jersey and Connecticut. Connecticut, people! It’s about time we got one.
