USA is launching its summer season of programs starting tonight with "White Collar" and "Covert Affairs." I've put recent videos I've made of cast members Anne Dudeck, Matt Bomer, Tiffany Thiessen, and Willie Garson at the end of this post.
Sports Fans Weep: NBC Wins Rights to 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2020 Olympic Games. Unless there are major changes at NBC this means at least 9 more years of effed up coverage, tape delayed events, and Jim-McKay-style fluff pieces instead of competition on the tube.
TV and comedy fans should check out the a recent edition of Greg Fitzsimmons'FitzDog Radio podcast featuring Neal Brennan, co-creator of "Chappelle's Show" and many more delights.
After all the hype, press attention, and the national tour, Charlie Sheen didn't submit himself for Emmy consideration for this year's awards. He was offered several extensions and a loophole seemingly custom-designed for him and he still didn't do it. Since he can't lose by not entering the race I'm sure Charlie calls this "winning."
Putting Their Money Where Their Mouth Is: Fans of Showtime's "The Big C" should know that the season 1 DVD and soundtrack are available today, June 7th. It's also pretty cool that Sony and Showtime will donate 100% of their net proceeds from sales of the soundtrack to Stand Up To Cancer.
Tomorrow night, June 8 at 8pm, our friend Greg Proops is performing his free podcast, "The Smartest Man In The World," at the Comedy Central Stage (6639 Santa Monica Boulevard) but you have to call 323-960-5519 for a free RSVP.
Evidence of a Hype Machine: Simon Cowell's new abomination of a program, "X Factor," has yet to launch in the US but industry "journalists" a writing articles every day about it because of various scandal's involving hirings and dismissals of judges, particularly some bimbo named Cheryl Cole. Cole may be a commodity in the UK but she's a non-entity in the US, both critically and popularly. Seeing the show and Cole above-the-fold in The Hollywood Reporter and similar journals reeks of payola.
