TV Junkie: BTJA TV Noms Announced; 'Pardo Patrol' Menaces Conan Guests

chelsea-lately-roundtable.jpg
"Chelsea Lately" is one of the shows nominated for the BTJA TV awards today. Tonight our friends Chris Franjola and Sarah Colonna will be on the roundtable.

One year ago, Congress defunded public media. Now that we're 100% community funded, please become a sustaining member or increase your existing membership today.

Today the The Broadcast Television Journalists Association announced the nominees for their inaugural awards show. While it's great to see "Chelsea Lately," "Louie" and "SouthLAnd" in the running, there is a homogenous feel to the lists of nominees. Does "Mad Men" still warrant nominees in almost every category? Again, "Sons of Anarchy," which is both critically acclaimed and highly popular only has Katey Sagal (worthily) nominated. I'm hoping that the list of nominees is more diverse when the Television Critics Association are presented with their ballots in the next couple weeks. I'll share them with you here.

Longtime comedian and warm-up guy for Conan O'Brien, and pardcaster extraordinaire Jimmy Pardo is now hosting "The Pardo Patrol" at TeamCoco.com as part of extracting every drop of funny from whichever guests are appearing on "Conan." Check out an example clip at the end of this post as Pardo stalks Ken Jeong of The Hangover II and "Community." These videos are a great idea as they give a fan like me some insight into the behind-the-scenes action at "Conan" as well as giving me even more of a guest that is special to me - I hope these occur at least weekly at TeamCoco.com

The Hollywood Reporter has video of a great panel of comedy showrunners including Steve Levitan ("Modern Family"), Jenny Bicks ("The Big C"), Bill Prady ("The Big Bang Theory"), Liz Brixius ("Nurse Jackie"), Mike Schur ("Parks and Recreation") and Dan Harmon ("Community") [Links are to our interviews with those subjects.]
