TV Junkie: WTFpod on Public Radio; Cuddy Leaves 'House' + More News

The season finale of "Raising Hope" is tonight at 9pm on Fox. We love love love this show and hope it stays on TV for many more seasons.
Before you
Dear reader, we're asking you to help us keep local news available for all. Your tax-deductible financial support keeps our stories free to read, instead of hidden behind paywalls. We believe when reliable local reporting is widely available, the entire community benefits. Thank you for investing in your neighborhood.

Two of our favorite podcast producers, Marc Maron and Maximum Fun, have teamed up to bring Marc Maron's WTFpod to public radio. MaxFun packaged selections from Maron's archives into a 10 episode series that has already been syndicated by several radio stations in addition to public radio's PRX service. While we will still maintain our iTunes subscription to the WTFpod, it's a great idea to get as many people as possible into the loop and this is one way to do it. From our TV/comedy perspective, both Maron and MaxFun regularly have guests who are heavily involved in the creation of TV and/or comedy and their interviews are always insightful and often hilarious.
It took them 3+ years but period dramas are coming to the broadcast networks. NBC will have "The Playboy Club" and ABC will have "Pan Am." However, having the shows based on historically-based institutions is no substitute for an original idea. The shows are also poised to take advantage of the "Mad Men" hiatus but do you think they'll be successful and/or of artistic merit? Let us know.
"House" is officially a dead Horse. While the Fox show might come back for an 8th season, Lisa Edelstein aka Dr. Cuddy, will not. What started out as a great show has been suffering a lot in recent seasons, even hardcore fans would have to admit. We love Edelstein and hope to see her back on TV ASAP.
ESPN unveiled its new lineup which included a revision of their afternoon programming as well as their first scripted series. A scripted series on a news/live event network? What next - a scripted series from FoxNews? Oh, that's right, all they broadcast is fiction.
Wish we could have been at last night's Television Arts & Sciences presentation of "A Conversation With Ladies Who Make Us Laugh." Moderated by Mary Lynn Rajskub, Television Academy members and their guests enjoyed an evening with the ladies who have made an outstanding contribution in the field of comedy- Elayne Boosler, Margaret Cho, Bonnie Hunt, Carol Leifer, Caroline Rhea and Lily Tomlin. If you went, pease let us know about it here!
"Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter has started his own YouTube channel with self-produced behind the scenes vids. We embedded one at the bottom of this page showing the cast participating in recording commentaries for season 3 episodes.
