TV Junkie: What's (not) Being Said About HBO's 'Cinema Verite'? Podcast Round-Up & More
Who watched HBO's "Game of Thrones"? Do you agree with the review we posted on Friday? Let us know your thoughts.
Speaking of HBO, their new docudrama, "Cinema Verite," is getting some press on the New Yorker and New York Times. Based on the first "reality" TV show, a documentary called "An American Family" that had 24/7 access to their subjects, the drama stars Tim Robbins and Diane Lane as the husband and wife in the family. The funny thing is that neither article mentions anything about whether or not the show is any good, in fact the articles seem to be deliberately avoiding commenting on it. While it's amazing how much staying power "An American Family" has had, we've been reading articles about it for years, it shouldn't eclipse a contemporary multi-million dollar production starring James Gandolfini, Robbins, and Lane. Why aren't the big boys saying a word about the show? Is HBO getting a pass on a project that didn't pan out?
Hey, the AP finally wrote about Planet Green's "The Fabulous Beekman Boys" after our articles the last couple seasons. Better late than never to catch up to this great show - one of the few "reality" shows we keep up on.
