TV Junkie: The Emerson-O'Quinn Experience; 'Mad Men' Auction; 'Glee' News

Jane Lynch of "Glee" will host an episode of NBC's "Saturday Night Live" in October. [Photo by Thomas Attila Lewis]
We're happy to see former "Lost" actors Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn shopping around TV show ideas. AsO'Quinn revealed to us at the Emmys last year, they are good friends whose rapport extends beyond the screen. They're both up for Emmys this year as well - good luck boys!

Get your bidding paddles ready: The "Mad Men" City of Hope charity eBay auction starts tomorrow night at 7pm. Leading the list of auction items is a walk-on role in the multiple Emmy and Golden Globe-winning drama. The ten-day charity auction will also feature a variety of vintage ‘60s furniture and props from the show’s iconic Sterling Cooper ad agency, including a number of pieces from the offices of Don Draper and Roger Sterling as well as dresses worn by a number of the cast members. While we wish "Mad Men" all possible success with the charity, it appears that the viewing public might be suffering from a bit of "Mad Men" fatigue as viewership has dropped 24% from last season. While we understand that the audience who chooses to watch Kardashian shenanigans is a different one than would enjoy "Mad Men", certainly AMC needs to do something to stem the flow.

Gleeked: Jane Lynch will host "Saturday Night Live" sometime this October; Britney Spears will be appearing for several numbers in an episode in the upcoming season; and "Glee" looks like it will walk away with several Emmys on the 29th of August.

While it seems that everyone is weighing in on the Mel Gibson tapes, we thought we'd add some humorous perspective from comedian Bill Burr who has a fall tour and Comedy Central special ("Bill Burr: Let It Go") coming out on September 18th. See the NSFW video at the end of this post. His 3 minute rant is priceless!

Comedian Bill Burr provides some (NSFW) perspective on the Mel Gibson/Oksana Grigorieva tapes:
As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
