TV Junkie: HBO Begins Ruling Sundays
The boys are back - "Entourage" season premiere on Sunday at 10pm on HBO
Weekend EditionSure, this weekend is all about the World Cup (USA vs. Ghana tomorrow at 11am!) but Sunday is all about HBO. With its premieres of both "Hung" and "Entourage", HBO pretty much seals the deal as the Sunday night TV destination from now until the end of July when "Mad Men" premieres on AMC. Thomas Jane continues to dial in his (dream?) role of man-whore Ray Drecker on "Hung", and if you can get through the slightly tedious intro of the premiere, interesting developments are afoot.
The boys of "Entourage" are back and the premiere attempts to be action-packed as Adrian Grenier's Vincent Chase finds himself on the set of an action film directed by an aggro Nick Cassavetes. While Vincent Chase decides to take some risks in moving forward with the movie, we wish Adrian Grenier and the rest of the younger cast members would do a workshop together or are their stilted performances supposed to be so campy? We get it though, this show isn't about great acting: it's about the cars, the scene, and perpetuating the Hollywood fantasy - and it delivers. 'rage-geeks can unlock the "Medellin" badge on FourSquare if they use PHILO while watching "Entourage" live. Enjoy the seventh season!
And finally, do not miss Sunday's "True Blood" - the kinky show finishes with an extremely twisted scene that will have you pressing Rewind on your DVR at least a couple times.
Gleeks and "Party Down" fans should be psyched by Jane Lynch's appearance on tonight's episode. Be sure to check out our quick interview with her at the Peabody Awards in NYC at the end of this post. There's also a "Party Down" promo clip for tonight's episode.
