Sneak Peek: Venice Art Walk & Auctions This Weekend

One year ago, Congress defunded public media. Now that we're 100% community funded, please become a sustaining member or increase your existing membership today.

Now in its 30th year, the Venice Art Walk happens this weekend (May 16-17), with proceeds from all the events, tours and auctions going to the Venice Family Clinic -- the largest free clinic in the country. Here are a few of the weekend’s highlights:

>> A New Wave of Venice Architecture: On Saturday from noon to 4 pm, this tour includes a VIP cocktail reception at Dogtown Station Lofts following the tour. Register at the Westminster School from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm tomorrow. Tickets are $100.

>> A Stroll Down Architects’ Alley: On Saturday from noon to 4 pm, this tour includes a historic walking tour of Rustic Canyon, lunch and a VIP the VIP cocktail reception at Dogtown Station Lofts following the tour. Tickets extremely limited and must be purchased in advance. The tickets are $175 each.

>> The Eclectic Homes on the Venice Canals: On Sunday from noon to 4 pm, this tour incldues admission to the actual Venice Art Walk & Auctions on Sunday. Register at 2202 Dell (Glass Condominiums) in Venice from, 11:45 am to 2 pm.

>> Art Walk & Auctions: On Sunday, the $50 ticket includes tours of 60+ artists’ studios and special exhibits from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm. It also includes admission to the silent art auction that features 400 original works, the food fair and live music that goes on until 6 pm. The Westside restaurants participating include Acadie Crepes, Baby Blues BBQ, Café Surfas, Chaya Venice, The Counter, Great Taste Catering, Hama Sushi, Hotcakes Bakes, Primitivo, Samosa House, Upstairs 2, Venice Grind and The Wood. Beverages provided by OOBA. Oh yeah, and lest we forget, there will be cocktail lounges on the Venice Art Walk trail to quench your thirst (if you're 21+, of course).

The artworks in this post are just some of the selections up for bid from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm on Sunday.
