One year ago, Congress defunded public media. Now that we're 100% community funded, please become a sustaining member or increase your existing membership today.

Another day, another rumor about Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa being romantically involved with a beautiful, high-profile woman. This time the rumors involved Mexican actress Kate Del Castillo.

The pair have been seen together at a few events and parties over recent weeks, which sparked the rumors, according to the Huffington Post.

Villaraigosa didn't respond to the website's questions, but del Castillo's manager told the Huffington Post that Villaraigosa has been friends with her father Eric del Castillo for many years, and that it wasn't unusual for the pair to socialize.

Del Castillo didn't quite deny the rumors, but said: "He practices Spanish with me." Which, of course, totally sounds like innuendo!

We're trying not to overthink it, but the Huffington Post report is sort of confusing. Del Castillo went out of her way to respond to the rumors but then didn't actually respond to them except to kind of laugh at them: "Del Castillo is currently working on location in Miami, but despite being busy at work, she wanted to respond to rumors and although she did not confirm nor deny it, she certainly had a laugh."

The website Tweetwood has some of the tweets that del Castillo sent out that mention Villaraigosa, dating back to 4 months ago. Most of them are retweets from Villaraigosa about this past election season. One tweet from the account for a movie about gender and race politics the Men's Central Jail praises del Castillo for appearing with Villaraigosa at the Creative Artists Agency for a screening of the film.

Since his divorce (or, uh, even before), Villaraigosa has been linked with Telemundo reporter Mirthala Salinas and later KTLA's Lu Parker. The pair split up in May 2012.
