Pets of the Week: Dashing Dwayne & a Cat Named Cat

Meet Dwayne, a 2 year old Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog. Dwayne is just about the nicest dog you'll ever meet. He's good-natured and wants to play and have a good time. He is full of energy, good humor and has never met a person he didn't like. Dwayne is a bit of a goofball and would love a home with another big dog to pall around with or a person (or two or three) who are fun lovin' like him.
Dwayne is a smart guy and good with instruction. He would be an excellent candidate for agility classes. He is working on his leash skills and would love a companion who would spend time with him to make him the best dog he can be. Typically speaking, Catahoulas are protective of their families and are excellent judges of character. These dogs need daily exercise as well as firm guidance during training. They are loving, calm, and dedicated companions.
Dwayne is available through The Dawg Squad, an all-volunteer animal rescue working in the Los Angeles area. They rescue at-risk animals, focusing on homeless and abandoned dogs providing medical care, rehabilitation and loving foster homes until a permanent, adoptive homes can be found. Some of the dogs are boarded with an emphasis on training, and all dogs are well socialized. All dogs are spayed, neutered and micro-chipped prior to adoption.
Come and meet Dwayne and other adoptable dogs from The Dog Squad every Saturday, from 11am-3pm at the Centinela Feed & Pet store on Lincoln Boulevard. For more information about The Dog Squad or Dwayne, email dawgsquad@rocketmail.com.

As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
