LAst Laugh: This Week in Comedy

This just seems dangerous. Photo courtesy puck90 via LAist Flickr pool.

This story is free to read because readers choose to support LAist. If you find value in independent local reporting, make a donation to power our newsroom today.

With the rain largely gone, it's a great week to get out and enjoy the comedy. There's a good mix of shows offering (what else?) a good mix of stand up and sketch, improv, or music. Beyond that, internet superheroes Harvard Sailing Team are at the Comedy Central Stage and Marc Maron pops his head up a few times.

If you've got a show you'd like to see listed in the future, email me.

MONDAY 11/7

Brunch, 9p The Park Restaurant. This is, perhaps, the strongest Brunch line up to date, and that’s saying a lot. Jason Nash, Jonah Ray, Moshe Kasher, Maria Bamford, Marc Maron and more.

Slapdogz!, 10p Hollywood Improv Lab. It’s a sketch and stand up fusion night, with Andre Hyland, Ron Lynch, Eric Edelstein, Nathan Barnatt and others.

TUESDAY 11/8

Outskirts Comedy, 8p Son of Semele Ensemble. Josh Rachford is putting together a new variety show, with stand up and improv in the mix in Silver Lake.

BlamBlamBlam!, 9p R Bar. It’s a night of password-protected stand up from Ron Babcock, Ron Lynch, Emily Maya Mills, Brody Stevens and a bunch more folks.

WEDNESDAY 11/9

Harvard Sailing Team, 8p Comedy Central Stage. One of the best internet sketch groups around takes it to the Comedy Central Stage for a live night of sketch comedy.

Dot Comedy, 10p Laugh Factory. Marc Maron hosts, with Brendon Walsh, Ari Shaffir, Jen Kirkman and more coming out for some stand up.

THURSDAY 11/10

True Story, 8p iO West. This week’s storytelling theme is Fantasy, with a host of storytellers baring it all on the iO Mainstage.

Sit N Spin, 8p Comedy Central Stage. Jackie Kashian looks to storytell the house down in this sublime monthly show.

FRIDAY 11/11

Joe Rogan, 9:30p Comedy & Magic Club. Rogan is doing two sets on Friday night, if you’re out at the beach and looking for something to do.

Diamond Lion, 11p UCB. LA’s best musical improv group is up at UCB for a wonderfully inventive night of crazy fun - all with accompaniment.

SATURDAY 11/12

Carlos Mencia, 9:30p Brea. If you don’t want your jokes stolen, I recommend staying out of Brea this weekend.

Comedy., 10p UCB. What more is there to say? It’s comedy, with Nick Kroll, Seth Morris, Jon Daly and more.

SUNDAY 11/13

Sponsored message

Brian Posehn, 7p Irvine Improv. Posehn is down in the OC, presumably melting faces.

Skinny Sundays, 9:30p Hollywood Improv. Hosts Rob Lindo and Mike Sekula have cut the fat with this stand up show; it’s all beef, including Paul Scheer.
