Hotel Cafe Tour w/ Jaymay, Emily Wells, Thao Nguyen, Lenka, Meiko & Rachael Yamagata @ Henry Fonda Theatre, 11/18/08
Last month, the Hotel Cafe Tour (MySpace) -- mentioned previously here -- whose all-female singer-songwriter lineup was comprised of locals Emily Wells (MySpace), Lenka (MySpace), and Meiko (MySpace), as well as Jaymay (MySpace), Thao Nguyen (MySpace), and Rachael Yamagata (MySpace), concluded at the Henry Fonda Theatre.
Lenka blogged the day of the show, "Last day of tour!! So sad to end but in a way sooo happy! Haha, not really, but I'm kinda glad to get off the bus and sleep in my own bed. You wouldn't believe how gross it gets after weeks of touring... There was actually a lot of calamities in the last few days, like, I broke Rachael Yamagata's guitar. (Sorry Rach!) I'm gonna miss these girls and boys and plan to cherish every moment on stage tonight. And then let out a big sigh. Aaaaaaaaaaaah."
Meanwhile, Meiko, the tour's anchor, blogged the following day, "What [a] ride I was on... I just completed the Hotel Cafe Tour last night at the Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles and it was amazing... I made sooo many friends on the tour and it was so sad to leave everyone! I was on that tour for 35 dates and I really got emotionally invested in it all - The band, the artists, the late night dance parties on the bus, the random days off, the fans... I really am officially addicted to touring..."
As for upcoming local shows, Wells' is on December 18th at the Hotel Cafe (MySpace) in Hollywood, and Lenka's is on February 27th at The Troubadour in West Hollywood. Meanwhile, Meiko, who last night performed a mini-concert on Last Call With Carson Daly, joins an all-star lineup tonight at the Hotel Cafe as part of the three night "ho-ho-tel 2008" benefit for the LAFD's "Spark of Love" Toy Drive.
Special thanks to Jaymay, Emily Wells, Thao Nguyen, Lenka, Meiko, Rachael Yamagata, the Henry Fonda Theatre, and the Hotel Cafe Tour.

Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.
