LOUNGE ACT: "The Lampshades" is a musical comedy act with Kate Flannery (from the Office) and Scot Robinson (from Anchorman). They sing musical mash-ups like Mandy/Brandy (Mandy and Brandy sung at the same time) Doves in Your Soul (Prince meets TMBG) and other scot-soaked, mascara-running medleys. They call themselves "America’s favorite dying lounge act." Tonight kicks off their run at the iO West Comedy Club in Hollywood. The show starts at 8pm. CLASSICAL: Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra will be performing a complete cycle of Brandenburg Concertos tonight at the Alex Theatre in Glendale at 8pm tonight (and Royce Hall at 7pm tomorrow). Tickets start at $24 can be purchased online or by calling the orchestra at (213) 622-7001.
GEEK OUT: Designer Con is holding its annual art and design convention in Pasadena today. The conference brings together collectible toys and designer apparel with urban, underground and pop art. The event starts at 10am and goes until 5pm. It's $5 online and $7 at the door (free after 3pm). The event is kicking off at the Pasadena Convention Center, 300 East Green Street.
