Echo Park Rising's Lineup Is Bigger And Better Than Ever (And Still Free!)

Echo Park Rising is back for its fifth year, and the lineup is as good (and still free!) as it has ever been.
The festival, which fills the void left after the demise of the Sunset Junction Festival, will hit the neighborhood the weekend of August 14-16. Headliners include some notable indie acts such as Hanni El Khatib, Dengue Fever, Superhumanoids, Fever The Ghost, Man or Astro-Man?, and Deap Vally. As it also is a more neighborhood-focused and intimate affair than its predecessor, the 300+ act lineup is also padded out with local up-and-comers such as Mr Elevator & The Brain Hotel, Corners, Maudlin Strangers, Rat Fist, The Wild Reeds, No Parents, and more to be announced.
"From punk, psych, hip hop, latin, folk and country, Echo Park Rising has it all," said organizer Mitchell Frank. "This year you can expect more stages to accommodate the lineup." One of these will be a new outdoor stage at the pet store BlueCollar Working Dog.
Events also include comedy and storytelling, and of course there'll be a wide selection of food trucks and beer gardens to keep you well fed and boozed up through the weekend. And Echo Park shops and businesses will be open and welcoming for all comers as they celebrate the vibrant neighborhood.
