*"Is It Really So Strange" film by Los Angeles artist William E. Jones about Latino Morrissey fans will screen this weekend as one of projects funded in 2005 by the City of Los Angeles Individual Artist Fellowship(COLA) on exhibit at Barnsdall Art Park exhibit.
June 24th and 25th at Barnsdall Art Park (FREE!)

The artist will be present to introduce the movie and to answer questions afterwards.

Machine Project guest artists, monochrome from Austria, will place the planets true to scale (sun, 4 meters in diameter, Pluto, one centimeter in diameter, about 20 miles away) throughout the LA cityscape. Then they will conduct a car race.
From there, as their press materials state, "the team that makes it through 'LA space' fastest wins the interplanetary trophy. In conclusion, of course, the speeds of the cars will be calculated, for example, how much faster than light they were. Planetary scientists will be on hand as guests to comment on the events.
