Dates Confirmed For Next Two Years of the Oscars
It's official: The 2014 and 2015 Oscars have a ceremony date, along with a slew of other dates for nominations and voting, and it seems the predictions were right when it comes to when the next awards will be handed out.
Today the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences revealed that the 86th and 87th Academy Awards® will air live on ABC on Oscar Sunday, March 2, 2014, and February 22, 2015, respectively.
The 2014 awards date was the focus of much speculation, since the typical Oscars time is being taken over by the Winter Olympic Games next year. All signs pointed to March 2, and today those who put their money on that date can take their payouts with our hearty congrats.
Of course, we still need to discuss who should host...but even that can't be properly decided beyond rumors for some time: First, the Academy has to pick their president. Then that president is tasked with picking a show producer. Then that show producer picks a host or hosts. Phew. Mind you, Jimmy Kimmel is already being tossed around as a legit contender. Hmmm...
