Martin Sheen Will Be Joining His Son Charlie Sheen On 'Anger Management'
Martin Sheen will be joining the cast of "Anger Management" starring his son Charlie Sheen.Martin will be brought on to play—what else?—the father of Charlie's character on the show, FX network chief John Landgraf told reporters today at the TV Critics Association press tour.
It's a role that he already played on one episode, TV Guide notes. It's also a good sign that the network plans to renew the show. The comedy premiered this June to record numbers that have since dropped off. If it hits certain targets this upcoming season, Landgraf told reporters that "Anger Management" could get renewed for 90 episodes.
Showrunner Bruce Helford said that Charlie is in a much better place than he was when he was starring on "Two And A Half Men." The key was giving him more creative control:
"When Charlie's on the stage, really, that's his stage. When you feel that, your creative juices are flowing. When you don't control your destiny, things gets screwed up in your head and when you do that for eight years, things gets really screwed up, I imagine."
No word on whether Emilio Estevez is going to be cast as well. Joking (kinda)!
