Video: Casey Kasem's Wife Threw Raw Meat At His Daughter While Quoting Scripture
The ugly familial battle involving the elderly and ailing Casey Kasem has gotten even weirder.
Kasem's children have been battling his wife Jean Kasem for access to see the 82-year-old "Top 40" icon. Some of her antics have been pretty strange. Kasem, who has Lewy Body Disease, "disappeared" from the Santa Monica hospital where he was staying. It turns out that his wife had moved him to Washington state to a home west of Seattle for a "vacation."
But things got even stranger this weekend. On Friday, Kasem's daughter Kerri Kasem got permission from a court to see her father for the first time since he'd been moved from Santa Monica. She also got permission to take her father to be evaluated by a physician and hospitalized if he needed it. Here's what happened when she tried to hospitalize him, according to NBC News which caught part of the fight on video:
On Sunday, Kerri Kasem arrived at the home with an ambulance to take Casey Kasem to a hospital, but paramedics were not allowed inside the Silverdale residence. A few minutes later, someone inside the home called 911, and a second ambulance and fire truck arrived. After the fire truck was called away to an emergency, Jean Kasem, 59, walked downstairs and threw a pound of raw hamburger meat at Kerri. The paramedics were finally able to go inside and pick up Casey Kasem.
You might wonder why one would throw raw meat at one's stepdaughter. Jean had a perfectly good explanation that involved the King James Bible. She told NBC: "In the name of King David, I threw a piece of raw meat into the street in exchange for my husband to the wild rabid dogs."
We'd laugh except the situation sounds very sad. Kerri's aunt Mary Kasem told NBC that it sounds like Kasem has gotten worse since he went on "vacation:" "Kerri was just very, very upset because her dad’s health had declined so much since she and Julie saw him on May 6. He just went backwards. She was so heartbroken on Friday that it broke my heart."
Here's the video of the fight that involves screaming, police and some bikers:
