Albuquerque Paper Publishes Walter White's Obit: "He Will Be Greatly Missed"
If you're like us, then you're still mourning for the end of Breaking Bad—or perhaps obsessing about all the possible alternative theories about the finale. But while Norm MacDonald is dealing with the Walter White-shaped hole in his heart by retweeting literally everyone, a group of fans decided to pay tribute by placing an obituary for White in today’s Albuquerque Journal.
“I’ve been a humongous ‘Breaking Bad’ fan since the beginning,” David Layman, a Los Lunas science teacher, told the Albuquerque Journal. “I was actually in the pilot, and putting the obit in the paper was fitting, because the series was based in Albuquerque and it provides some of us some closure.” By us, Layman is referring to himself and members of the Facebook group “Unofficial Breaking Bad Fan Tour,” who pooled together for the obit.
“Of course, there are a lot of us sad to see the show and Walt go,” he added. “But being able to see that part of Albuquerque and the local talent was wonderful, and many of us could feel some pride.” We particularly like the understated description of his death and his side career: "White was a research chemist who taught high school chemistry, and [OH YEAH] later founded a meth manufacturing empire." Personally, we would have ended the obit, "Breakfast won't be the same without him."
