29 Awesome Events In Southern California This Veterans Day Weekend
Monday is Veterans Day so a number of events -- from film screenings to food specials -- honor those who have served in the military. The Streets Are Queer

A gallery teams with an arts nonprofit to present a group exhibition of works by North American street artists who identify as queer. This inaugural event honors the sacrifice of veterans and their families. Various public officials and military reps will speak at the formal ceremony, which starts at 10 a.m. Then, the Coliseum's historic torch will be lit at 11 a.m. to mark the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month," the exact moment the armistice ended World War I. Post 43 and the American Cinematheque present a special screening of the 1983 drama about the American space program in the 1950s and '60s. - There's a free community Salute to Veterans at the OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- On Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., there's a Salute to Veterans event at Richie Valens Park in Pacoima where all veterans get two hot dogs, chips and a drink. There will be live performances and food trucks.
