Topline:

Former Anaheim City Councilman Jordan Brandman died of “acute methamphetamine intoxication,” according to an autopsy report from the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Department, which ruled the death accidental.

Why it matters: He was found dead at his home late last September during a welfare check, and just a few months after the Los Angeles Times detailed his relationship with prominent business leaders, including a Disney executive, and their apparent influence on his city council votes.

The backstory: He was elected to the Anaheim City Council twice, and was the first openly gay member. He stepped down from his District 2 seat in 2021 after a series of violent and misogynistic text messages directed at another former council member surfaced.

Go deeper: ...to learn more about Brandman's life and legacy.
