Good morning and happy Friday. We're looking at slightly warmer but mild weather today as we head into a short weekend warmup. Spoiler alert — more rain is in store for next week.

Morning low clouds will cover the coasts and valleys until they fade by the afternoon. Temperatures will be between 3 to 6 degrees warmer compared to Thursday's chilly highs.

Look for highs in the low to mid 60s across from the coasts to the valleys and inland areas. The high desert will be much cooler, with highs in the mid 50s to low desert. Over in Coachella Valley, temperatures will reach 70 degrees.

Tonight's lows will drop to the mid 40s.

This weekend expect highs in the upper 60s to low 70s for Southern California.

For next week, the National Weather Service says there's a growing chance of light to moderate rain Tuesday through Thursday.

The storm system, however, won't be as cold as the last one, which means little to no snow below 8,000 feet.
