Sunday Forecast: High Wind, High Surf, And A Chance Of Rain
Strong winds are expected to whip Southern California today, with gusts up to 80 mph in some areas.
The winds
A wind advisory is in in effect until 7 p.m. today for Los Angeles and Orange counties, with gusts up to 60 mph expected in the valleys and along the coasts, and up to 80 mph in the mountains and foothills, according to the National Weather Service.
"Especially in the LA area, we'll likely see winds increase, so we're probably going to see our strongest winds through this afternoon," said Robbie Munroe with the National Weather Service.
Winds as high as 55 mph are expected in San Bernardino and Riverside; a high wind warning for those areas is in effect until noon today.

Power outage
High winds have caused power outage for thousands of LA Department of Water and Power customers. As of 9:00 a.m. today, communities including Koreatown, El Sereno, Highland Park, and Baldwin Hills are affected, according to the agency.

The surf
The NWS is forecasting high surf with heights up to 15 feet for Ventura County and 9 feet for L.A. County. A high surf advisory for beaches in those counties remain until 9 a.m. on Monday.
There is a chance of minor coastal flooding today, but is not expected to be as severe as what the county had recently experienced.
The rain and snow
There's a slight chance of rain: 15 to 30% for L.A., the Ventura coasts and the Valleys, and up to 50% chance of rain outside of those areas.
One to two inches of snow is expected in the Grapevine / Tejon Pass, with winds gusting up to 80 mph. The NWS is warning drivers to avoid mountain travel today.
