Good morning! Get out those rain boots — it's going to be a wet couple of days, with heavy snow over the mountains.
We're starting off with a mostly dry and cloudy morning, followed by light to moderate rain this afternoon. Temperatures Wednesday will range from the 50s at the coasts and in the valleys to 65 degrees in the Inland Empire.
Between now and Thursday, coastal areas and valleys will see several inches of rain in the mountains and foothills.
Nighttime temperatures will drop to the low 40s.
In the Coachella Valley, expect highs from 73 to 78 degrees with a low chance of rain in the afternoon.
There is a chance of thunderstorms tonight that could produce locally heavy rain, gusty winds and small hail.
Winter storm watch issued for the mountains
Forecasters are monitoring storm conditions over the mountains. The San Bernardino and San Gabriel mountains could see the most rain.
The National Weather Service reports that later Wednesday through Friday, heavy snow is possible, along with wind gusts up to 60 mph.
We could see up to 1 foot of snow as low as 5,000 feet, and up to 2 feet of snow at resort levels.
Traveling through the mountains is not advised, but if you have to: Take a storm kit, tire chains, booster cables, flashlight and any other emergency essentials just in case.
