It's starting to feel like Southern California fall — warm and windy (hello chapstick and hand lotion).

  • Beaches: low 70s
  • Mountains/deserts: upper 60s -mid 70s/70s,90s
  • Inland: 80s

Today, expect warmer temperatures, especially in the valleys where highs are now in the 80s. In Orange County, the coastal areas will remain in the mid 70s, but more inland it will get up to 82.

You can count on the coast to stay cool in the mid 70s. In downtown L.A., it will get up to 79.

In the high desert, it's still relatively cool compared to the lower half, with highs in the upper 70s. Meanwhile, in Coachella Valley, temperatures will reach 90.

But come nightfall, the National Weather Service is warning of Santa Ana winds to last until Wednesday morning for L.A. county mountains.

Brace yourselves for more even more heat as the week goes on.

Things to do

Didn't catch Hadestown last night? Don't worry, you can try again tonight!

  • Hadestown: The winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards, including Best New Musical, returns to L.A. to open the Center Theatre Group / Ahmanson Theatre’s 2023-2024 season. Hadestown takes audiences on a journey to the underworld and back, following two intertwining love stories — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone.

At LAist, we believe in journalism without censorship and the right of a free press to speak truth to those in power. Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.

But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.

We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else.
