Here's your Thanksgiving Day forecast!

Temperatures dropped 10 degrees overnight, making today much cooler. Partly cloudy skies will give way to sunny skies in the afternoon for a nice, pre-dinner walk. Coastal valley highs will be in the mid 60s to low 70s.

Meanwhile, the Antelope Valley will experience about 5 degrees of warming because of a lack of cool air from the high deserts.

Highs will stay in the low 70s inland — up to 74 in the Inland Empire and Irvine.

  • Beaches: mid 50s-lower 70s
  • Mountains: upper 40s-mid 60s

In the low desert areas, temperatures will average around 75 degrees in the daytime, lows at about 50 degrees. Wind should be mild during the day, but will pick up to about 25 mph in the evening.

Mountain highs will be in the 50s and 60s, with some gusty west winds along desert slopes for this afternoon into tonight.

Tonight's lows for the mainland will drop into the mid 50s, and there's a chance of patchy drizzle across the Southland.

The wet weather likely won't stick around past the weekend, and a return of Santa Ana winds is expected Sunday and Monday next week, with an accompanying warming trend in the last week of November.

Things to do

Retail stores may be packed this Black Friday, so why not try out a more niche shopping experience?

  • Black Friday Record Store Day: If shopping is your thing the day after Thanksgiving, you might try shopping indie record stores for Black Friday Record Store Day. Artists including Post Malone, Chet Baker Trio, De La Soul, Digital Underground, Dr. Dre and others are releasing limited-edition vinyl, cassettes and other goodies.

At LAist, we believe in journalism without censorship and the right of a free press to speak truth to those in power. Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.

But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.

We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else. Thank you for your generous support and belief in the value of independent news.
