Here's your Thanksgiving Day forecast!

Temperatures dropped 10 degrees overnight, making today much cooler. Partly cloudy skies will give way to sunny skies in the afternoon for a nice, pre-dinner walk. Coastal valley highs will be in the mid 60s to low 70s.

Meanwhile, the Antelope Valley will experience about 5 degrees of warming because of a lack of cool air from the high deserts.

Highs will stay in the low 70s inland — up to 74 in the Inland Empire and Irvine.

Quick Facts

  • Today’s weather: partial clouds, sun in the afternoon
  • Beaches: mid 50s-lower 70s
  • Mountains: upper 40s-mid 60s
  • Inland: lower 50s-lower 70s

In the high desert area, residents should expect highs to hover in the mid to low 70s all day, with nighttime lows in the high 40s to mid 50s.

Cloud cover breaking in the afternoon should make way for those daytime highs.

In the low desert areas, temperatures will average around 75 degrees in the daytime, lows at about 50 degrees. Wind should be mild during the day, but will pick up to about 25 mph in the evening.

Mountain highs will be in the 50s and 60s, with some gusty west winds along desert slopes for this afternoon into tonight.

Tonight's lows for the mainland will drop into the mid 50s, and there's a chance of patchy drizzle across the Southland.

The wet weather likely won't stick around past the weekend, and a return of Santa Ana winds is expected Sunday and Monday next week, with an accompanying warming trend in the last week of November.

This day in history

On this day in 1987, dense fog with visibility reported at times to be less than 10 feet occurred in the Inland Empire. A number of multi-vehicle crashes occurred on I-215 between Temecula and Sun City involving 42 vehicles. One person was killed and 19 were injured.
