Happy Thursday! We hope you're getting used to May Gray conditions because they'll stick around for the rest of the week. And yes, that is patchy drizzle coming down this morning.

Quick Facts

  • Today’s weather: Mostly cloudy
  • Beaches: 66 to 70
  • Mountains: mid 60s to low 70s
  • Inland/deserts: 77/90s
  • Warnings and advisories: Air quality alert

A deep and persistent marine layer has created drizzle in the morning and low clouds that will struggle to clear for most of the Southland during the afternoon. Inland areas including the valleys could see partly cloudy skies in the afternoon, meanwhile coastal areas will remain cloudy. The deserts will be the sunniest and warmest areas.

Along the beaches, daytime highs will be in the mid 60s, up to 69 degrees for the inland coast. The Malibu coast will be chillier, with daytime highs in the low 60s.

Temperatures in the valley will be in the mid 70s, and rise up to 79 degrees in the Inland Empire. Foothill communities for Santa Ana and San Gabriel mountains will see highs between 65 to 75.

In the high desert, daytime highs will reach up to 91 degrees in the high desert, up to 100 degrees in Coachella Valley.

Things to do

Get outdoors today!

  • Creating The Community And Life You Want Drum Circle: Be part of L.A. history and join (potentially) the city’s largest-ever drum circle right in downtown’s Grand Park. Drums are provided, so just show up and throw down with 200-300 other percussion enthusiasts at lunchtime (don’t worry, there will be food trucks). Local officials, including Councilman Kevin de León and Supervisor Kathryn Barger will speak and legendary percussionist Sheila E. will perform. No musical experience is necessary.
